I moved to Iowa City from West Des Moines in 2008 to attend the University of Iowa. Growing up I was a competitive soccer player and golfer. When I got to Iowa City I was immersed by the wonderful bike culture and racing scene; I knew this was going to be my next passion. Nine years (and a lot of races and crashes) later I am now the World of Bikes resident roadie and cyclocross expert as well as the local Strava segment guru. I started at World of Bikes in April 2014, after 9 years of prior retail and bike shop experience.
If I am riding my road bike and the wind is blowing from the right direction I enjoy heading southwest towards the old Kalona Cheese Factory, and then heading north towards Oxford. Making a pit stop at the Depot in Oxford for a piece of pizza is a must. Coming from Oxford I head east towards North Liberty and ride north towards Sugar Bottom road and take that southward back to Iowa City. It is a good 75 mile loop that tests your climbing abilities, but still offers plenty of flat roads to cruise on.

Here is the route if you’re interested!

I have 5 bicycles, all equally loved, and all giant size- seriously they are the biggest sizes Trek produces. Bigger IS better. Trek XO2- my beloved townie bike, 2015 Trek Emonda SL8 w/ Sram eTap, 2017 Trek Procaliber 9.7, 2015 Trek Boone 9 Disc w/ Sram CX1, 2015 Trek Boone 9 Cantilever w/ Sram CX1
Outside of the bicycle world I am a huge European soccer fan; my favorite teams are Chelsea and Borussia Dortumund. Keeping the European theme going I love speaking German, Ja Deutsch!
